As a young adult who is trying to establish credit and save for my future, I'm worried about a proposed increase to my phone bill.  I oppose a plan before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to change the collection method for the Universal Service Fund because it will result in higher costs for me and possibly my university.

FCC Chairman Kevin Martin is proposing a change in the Universal Service Fund (USF) collection method from a "pay-for-what-you-use" system to a "monthly flat-fee."  The flat-fee system would put a strain on me and thousands of other students living on fixed incomes.  Shifting the funding burden from those who make many long-distance calls, like big corporations, to individuals like me who make little or none is hardly fair and goes against the whole idea of USF - making phone service accessible to everyone.  I can't afford to pay more money for the exact same service, so for this reason I urge Chairman Martin to rethink his flat-fee plan.

Please tell the FCC that a flat-fee plan is unfair, unnecessary and students such as myself are unable to bear the brunt of other, higher volume users.  Thank you for your continued work and I appreciate your consideration. I look forward to hearing about your position on this matter.
