ABOUT THE KEEP USF FAIR COALITION
The Keep USF Fair Coalition's goal is to make sure the FCC and Congress do not change the current methodology to calculate your phone taxes to a flat fee system, where all consumers would pay the same amount regardless of usage.

MINNESOTA: Are You Ready to Pay $28M More in Phone Taxes?

Read Our Minnesota Ad
Big phone companies and some in Congress want to change the federal "Universal Service Fund" fee on your phone bill from a percentage of long-distance use to a flat monthly fee. That means more taxes for you and other consumers in Minnesota. Today, Minnesota consumers are already paying roughly $94 million into the USF. Under the proposed changes, you and consumers in the Land of 10,000 Lakes will pay a minimum of $28 million more than you do now!

The proposed tax hike will also affect Minnesota colleges and universities. Read our recent study featuring Macalester College and College of St. Benedict that shows how the FCC tax hike could raise tuition, reduce on-campus security, and delay needed investments in new technologies.
